Which do you prefer or even which do you think is best?

depend on the species, i have had plenty of fish like mackerel on plugs, but lures work for pollack, especially jellyworms and shads.

Fly Caught Fish 2014- Pollack, Coalie, Whiting, Mackerel, Sea Trout, Brown Trout, Perch, Roach

Biggest Fish of 2014-15lb Conger Eel

In my opinion unless you're fishing for bass then lure fishing is definately the way to go. Only my opinion mind.
