Blasket Islands, Co Kerry
I fished the Great Blasket last year with amazing results nearly every cast produced a wrasse of 4lbs or over. They were taking float fished rag and lug on the bottom. Also had large congers and good pollock. Anyone else ever fished here? How is it fishing this year might go down for a few days this time and try a night.

Dingle Peninsula
Have never fished the Blaskets but 1st two weeks August on the Dingle peninsula. Fishing was pretty poor, some small pollock, couple of nice wrasse and dogfish, timing of trip was aginst me tidewise so can't complain (wife and kids to entertain during daylight hours. Did see a specimen Garfish and Wrasse landed while I was there - while I spun away in vain for over an hour before I could land a solitary makerel for bait (:-( .

As far as I'm aware the ferry's from dunquin were traditionally the only ferry to the islands but someone decidede to cash in and set up a buisness from dingle. Anyone thinking of going to the islands the ferry's can be quite expensive but if there is a group a bit of haggleing has been known to reduce the price.
