Wexford Fishathon 2009 - Part 3 The final chapter

#1 Post by saltydog »

People: Myself, adam2040 and oneillphil

Duration: 20:30-03:00

Tide: HT @ 23:30ish

Weather:

Bait: crab, rag, suid and sandeel

Rigs: Various

Results: Common Smooth Hound, Dabs, Dogs, Grey Gurnard, Starry Smooth Hound, Whiting

Report: Thursday 9th July 20:30-03:00
Had arranged to meet up with adam2040 and oneillphil for a smut session. Hit the mark in North Wexford and conditions looked good for smuts, i was first in with a couple of dabs followed by adam2040 with a whiting and dog, next was a grey gurnard for myself first of the year so was happy with another species to chalk of the list... we had to wait a while for the smuts to show but eventually they came through with adam2040 first in with a nice smut followed not too long after by myself with a similar sized smut... not to be out done oneillphil then got a nice smut over the 5lb mark with that the two boys called it a day... just as they were packing away i had good rattles on both rods with no hook ups... the two boys packed up and headed off around midnight i fished on and ended up landing another 5 smuts including a specimen of 7lbs 6ozs packed in it a 03:00 with a fish on each rod on the last cast... adam2040 has some pics to add...

Friday 10th July:
headed out for a boat session report is here... viewtopic.php?f=5&p=173389#p173389

Saturday 11th July:
With the adverse weather conditions battering the coast decided to cancel the session planned for the evening

Sunday 12th July:
Had planned a Bass session as i'd had a good run of smuts already ventured South for this trip arrived at the mark which was full of weed   packed up tried another mark which was full of weed too gave one further mark a shot ..... you guessed it full of weed so sadly the last two days were a right off but all in all i enjoyed the week couple of new species chalked of the list and some good craic with the smuts... back over to the West now for some more fishing

Cracking fishing lads, welldone on the specimen hound Conor.

Shame I couldnt get the time to drop down for a session, but things were a bit hectic all week.

The trip to Clare Island was good craic though, shame the weather wasnt better for all of us I reckon :(

Would recommend the Imax smock and the bottoms very comfortable to wear they keep you warm and dry without you melting in them.... pack the floatie away for the summer months and invest in one of these they're a great bit of kit...
