22.30 to 3.30am

Blustery

Fresh Lug & Sandeel
3 hook flapper

4 Bass

Went to Lahinch for a family weekend and brought the gear with me. Dug fresh lug and set off at around 10.30, just after setting the 2 rods out first rod rattled and up came a beauty of a 3LB bass, Christmas started to come when the second rod rattled and up came another bass, this time a little smaller so on his way he went. At this point things went quiet for about an hour and the rod rattled again and once again another little shoolie so off he went. Again things quietened down again, i was just casting the second rod when i heard the bell rattle on the rod that was out, picked up the rod and straight away i knew it was a bigger fish, after what seemed like an hour but was probably about 5 minutes i landed my personal best, a 9lb bass at this stage i was like a child in a candy shop, great nights fishing, hopefully it won't be as long before i get out again. Sorry no pics as i used the camera phone and they came out very bad...

legend! i haven't used a bell on my rod in 25 years!
probably cos it never rang

Thanks for the replies lads, my mate and myself have started to use the bells for night fishing in the last year and they really do work superb ( thats when they ring)

Meant to say that all the fish were caught on fresh lug nothing went for the sandeel, on a 3 hook rig with float beads on the snoods

Great to see the bass around

I have always found lug to be the best for big bass and lures to be the best for most bass. Some great marks around that area. Well Done
