Fished Sorrento rocks last night from about 8pm - 9.30pm and caught zip diddly. It was busy but not many fish were caught. A chap beside me caught a trio of mack followed by 4 on one rig of feathers. A chap further down, with much whooping and hollering hauled in 7 on one rig, but that was it. Along that strecth for the time I was there there were at least 10 people fishing and although 14 macks isn't bad, it was only 3 casts that caught them so it was quiet overall.
Species 2010 (12) Whiting (40), Coalfish (4), Pollack (9), 3 bearded Rockling (1), Codling (4), Ballen Wrasse (1), Pouting (1), Dab (4), Alien (1), Red Gurnard (2), Tub Gurnard (1), Mackerel (35)

I pulled in at Youghal Bridge this morning, didn't have time for a cast but I was told they are not about in any numbers right now.

The main shoals are still not in yet in Galway Bay but good numbers are being taken an hour each side of high tide at the 'Flats' near Ballyvaughan. East winds or bad weather are driving what fish there are into deeper water. Black feathers on a dull day or cheap silver flashers on a bright day.

went looking for them at a well known rock mark near kinsale last night. only got 2 but there was 3 small boats there about 100 yards out and they must have pulled in a few hundred on each boat using handlined feathers. only had the spinning rod with me so they were well out of reach.

Went fishing off the rocks Coliemore park,Sorrento yesterday from 14:00-17:00. HW at 16:00ish.
Had the place to myself again as everyone was probably at or watching the Leinster final. After two hours I started to think that even the mackerel were watching the game too! A few people started to arrive after so it was time to synchronise the casting. Got 4 mackerel in the last hour- one biggy! Decided to pack up then as I had enough for the BBQ(Taaaaasty they were!!!) Didn't see anyone else catch but in fairness no one else was really getting the distance. I have to say that some of the rods I see down there are comical to say this least - I know mackerel aren't the best fighters but give them some respect and don't fish with a broken rod :D One guy beside me got two little pollock. Surprised to see him take them home, but was even more surprised to see that he wouldn't even put them out of their misery first!!

One last thing I have to say that it really is disgusting the mess that it down there now - empty bottles, line , hooks, tackle wrappers- the flies are really making a home for themselves down there. Anyway I won't go on about it, but there is no need for it.....

Fished Clogherhead, Louth on Friday & Sat. No mackerel, and very few fishing. I got bored & switched to sabikis and caught a bunch of sprats which I gave to people who were float-fishing. There are plenty of sprats, so hopefully the macks won't be far behind.

Hi all,

Three of us fished the rocks at Howth last night from 5:30 - 9:30pm, not a single fish, not even a bite. There were three other lads there who had been there from 2:00pm yesterday and only got the one. I also had a bash at Clogherhead on Friday and sadly nothing there either and there were 7-8 people fishing.

Has there been much caught at Clogherhead this year? I have blanked four times and it hasn't looked promising any time I have gone down to the pier.
