Weekend shore fishing trip to Kerry - August

#1 Post by shamoo0804 »

Trying to organise an informal long weekend away in Kerry, sometime in august.

Likely to be targetting Bass and Ray (thornies, undulate, painted...and maybe a chance of a stinger  )

Probably gonna rent a house/caravan.

So just throwing it out there to see is there anybody who may fancy it.

An idea of numbers will help me to assess accomodation/transport needs.

Not definate on any date yet, so fairly flexible, but want to be leaving Dublin on a friday morning, and returning on the monday morning.

Non drivers welcome as I have a large jeep or even a big minibus if required.

2 of us going as it stands, and the more the merrier - it will help to keep transport/accommodation costs to a minimum.

If any of you Kerry lads want to meet up and show us some of your secret marks, that would be great

Also if any lads from other areas of the country wanna come down for a meet aswell, that would be cool, be nice to meet a few others from the site.

Likely to be a few BBQ's and beers, so should be an enjoyable trip.

Cool, had pm from a guy called Timbo (from Kerry) aswell, who will do his best to meet up.

Be nice to get a few lads going from the east coast, suprised I havent had more interest in this, considering the fishing down in Kerry :?

Grand lads,

Any suggestions on a date ?

Ideally sometime after the first week of august as I'm likely to be heading to spain for 3/4 days during that week, but its not too much of a problem if its the 1st or 2nd weekend of the month.

So should we pencil in the weekend of friday21st - monday 24th august ?

Does that suit?

If that date is ok, I'll start researching some accomodation.

Just make sure it doesnt coincide with any club comps, holidays, weddings, anniversaries, partners birthdays etc etc

If we can get 5 or 6 of us that would be ideal, but of course more are welcome.

Hi Lads,

I haven't looked at the tides yet, but try pick your weekend around the bigger tides. This will see you get better fishing, especially for the Rays.

Sounds like good advice, thanks Kev.

PS Where is best to get a tide prediction that far ahead without having to pay for it

Donal, your a true gent, thanks for the info.....looks like thats the weekend then

peter97, no bother at all, be great to have a few different guys along...... but given I'm trying to sort accomodation etc, you'd want to be making a firm commitment to coming along, where are you based?

doggie3131, yeh had considered camping alright, but to be honest given that we'd all be travelling a good bit to get there, I'd just thought it would be handy to have a decent bed for a good nights sleep, the creature comforts of a steady house/caravan......and the added bonus of a hot shower and fridge for a few cold beers

BTW, I can sort all out bait needs prior to leaving Dublin, so no extra hassle there for anybody.

Cool, weekend of the 21st august looks best currently.

Planning to leave dublin around late morning on the friday and coming back to dublin either sunday evening, or the monday morning.

I'm in D15 myself aswell
