people- me
duration- 1.5hrs
tide- push
weather- breezy
bait- maggot and bread
rigs- float
results- 1 shanny
i went down yesterday to fish for mull, but the mullet would not eat any bait bait at all, so i fished on the bottom for other species, still standing the chance of a mullet, but all i got was a shanny saving me from having a blank.

Mullet drive you mad, I'm still in therapy years after casting my last bread upon the waters. Still, you have a fine list of species for the year already. Good luck going for the 60.

Re: millisle- 3rd july 2009
If the mullet aren't feeding on your bread or showing an interest in it just stick at it. Just when you think nothing is going to happen, that's when it does!
Was there many of them about or just a few?
It is very hard trying to target a small number of fish, it's a good sized group you want.
This way, they end up being abit more competitive with each other making them more inclined to fight eachother for the bread or bait that you are using.
Not all the time, but this does happen.
You should go and look at other marks and see if there is any fish about, there are plenty of places close to you where mullet hang around.
If you aren't having much luck at one place, try another and then go back to it a while later and see if it has picked up.
These fish are very cute, they can get very used to you being there and could end up not feeding at all.
That's why you need to leave them for a while and then go back and give them another go at another time.
Of course, this is only my opinion but I just wanted to help as I can see how keen you are on mullet fishing.
Try braid or flurocarbon on your hook lengths as this type of line is harder to see in the water, therefore it doesn't spook the fish when it comes close.
Wee things like this make all the difference in you catching or not.
Rubby dubby works sometimes too but it all depends on the conditions, whether the fish are feeding etc. although I am sure you have used this before.
