Duration: 3 hours
Bait: Bread
Rig: Float
Tide: On the flood
Weather: Cloudy and wet
Results: 1 mullet
K2 and myself headed out to the mark where we intended to fish and when we got there we met up with Tom H.
We all started scanning the area for a while to see if there was any fish about and sure enough there was.
We started fishing, ground baiting again with bread and the fish did show an interest in it, nudging the floats and swimming past them having a look at what was there.
Quite a few bites where missed during the session much to all of our frustration.
K2 had a fish on but lost it
The rain was heavy, we were wet and cold but we stuck at it because as you will know if you have ever fished for mullet before, just when you don't think anything is going to happen that's when it usually does.
And sure enough, just when Tom H had given up and had decided to head for home, K2 spotted a good group of fish arriving and encouraged Tom to start fishing again.
He did and happy days after approx. the third cast in a mullet was hooked!
It give him quite a good fight before finally surrendering and going in the net.
No specimen's tonight but still a nice wee fish caught all the same.
The size of the fish isn't the most important thing, these buggers are hard to catch and so when you are successful in getting one then the last thing on your mind is what size it is.
We all reckon it weighed approx. 2lb.
I took the now routine picture of the fish with it's captor and it was put back in safely to swim another day.
The picture was taken on Tom's camera and he is going to upload it onto this report later on hopefully.
After that it got quite dark and it started to get hard to see the float.
We were also soaked through, I was the worst having only a pair of wellies on while the other two had their waders so at this stage we decided to head for home.
Another great night's fishing was had by all and I know that there will be many more to come before the summer is out. I can't wait!
