Kearny. Co Down - 28 June 09

#1 Post by round_ourway »

People: Me and others For GADSAC

Duration: 2-7pm

Tide: High Tide @ 5pm

Weather: Calm 24 Degrees

Bait: Mackerel. Sandeel. Rag

Rigs: Pulley & 2 Hook Pat

Results: Not a Thing

Report:

Portaferry Rover

I teamed up with others from the club and proceeded to scout fishing locations along the coast. We stopped at Kearny on the Eastern side of the headland. The spot looked decent but soon we came to realise that it would not reward us with a solitary counting fish. The ground was clean for 50 yards until it reach a decent weed patch. Casting to the weed patch was only to have our baits striped by crabs. I did get a doggie knock but that was it.
lessons learnt, We should have went to Portaferry Aquarium.

I did top up the sun tan though

Unlucky on the blank. We have tried a few spots down that direction and all produced the same result (nothing) really sad state of affairs as it used to be really good fishing down there.

Hard luck. That area should throw up a lot more fish than it does. I had a nice wee Plaice just round at Quinton bay a couple of weeks ago that hit me when the tide was well on its way out.

It did look the business when we got down there. I tried spinning for mackerel a while and not a thing about. Faith in the Co.Down coast is slipping, doesnt seem to be much about!!
