#1 Post by red »

People, just me:

Duration, about 2300ish till 0030:

Tide, 2359:

Weather, from mild to strong southerly breezes:

Bait, razor and lug:

Rigs, 2 hook flappers, size 2's:

Results, 1 Bass and 1 flounder.:

Report
finished work at 2230 and headed for the beach. when i got there the surf was fairly big but lots of weed about. huge clumps of kelp everywhere. i decided to go with just the one rod with lug on the bottom hook and razor on top. first cast out resulted in the rod buckling over with weed and i snapped the 15lb line trying to pull it in. i took a wander up the beach and noticed the weed wasnt as bad up further so moved the gear up. i could see little knocks from weed hitting the line but it was bearable so stuck it out. on the 2nd cast i got a good thump but missed it. just as i was about to sit back down the rod started hopping and i connected this time and landed a 47cm Bass at 2lb 8oz. next cast out the rod started going again. it was giving good knocks but not agressive enough to be a bass. it seemed to be fighing like a good fish and i didnt have a clue what it was till i saw it flapping on the beach, a nice plump 37cm flounder that weighted 1lb 13oz. i had another few casts but nothing else showed so packed up and headed home

i was well happy with the flounder, good scrap off him which ive only had once before from a flattie. he seemed very fat for a fish that wasnt too big.
a bit disapointed about only getting 2 fish with the surf there but better than a blank anyday. might have had a few more if i stayed longer but had work the next day so headed off earlier than id have liked.
