I have tried searching through the site, to pick up some info on the use of Braid and have found a lot of conflicting info about how good / bad braid is. I am currently using Mono, but years ago I used to prefer using Dacron (sp?).
I have a new spool of 50lb Penn wave blaster dynabraid at the house which I bought before the season started, as I was told it was similiar to dacron by the guy in the shop, I then noticed some negative write-ups on here about braid, so I just loaded the reel with mono.
I am purely talking about boat fishing, so casting characteristics dont matter. If I was to load my reel with the braid is there anything I need to know before I do?

Re: Braid or Mono
Try it out, you'll never go back to mono unless for shallow water.
You'll need to stick backing on your reel first. If you get snagged when fishing use a stick rather than wrapping round you hands to free it.
A bit about spooling with braid here - http://www.planetseafishing.com/tutoria ... id-to-bed/

Re: Braid or Mono

braid is no 1 for me, for most spin fishing but i didnt try bottom fishing yet ,just would be careful with made in china its like a rope and will colect sand and cut the rings in few days for boat fishing i would go for braid
