Report:
Looked nice and fishy when we arrived, but there was plenty of weed up the beach....more than I have seen before.
Good to see a few deep gulleys running parrallel to the hw mark as well, there would be plenty of water in them during the flood.
Got a dab early doors myself, 1st one I've seen or heard of on this beach before. Meanwhile Brian was having trouble with the weed and flooding tide.
Not much happening then for the next hour or so until the others arrived, and I had 2 flounder in 2 casts then.
Weed was still a problem, and it was proving difficult to know how to beat it, we tried casting out far, this seemed to help on some casts then tried casting to the back of the filling gullys, which also seemed to help on the odd cast.
Mark was then into a good bass, things looked up from there and I think expectations were raised a little.
Not much action again for a while, Brian getting a small flounder.
Then Mark got a good bit, but somehow missed the fish...another bass for sure. he missed this bite no more than 20/30 yards out in front of him.
Baits recast, and it didnt take too much longer for Mark to get into another bass, managing to land (if you can call it that when your upto your waist in water) another fine bass. Quick photo and off he swam.
The tide was now not far of the hw water mark, and being 1am myself and Brian decided to call it a night, tired with all that wading, and shifting gear back up the beach every 1/2 hour.
Mark and Al decided to give it 1 last cast.....think they were out another hour or so
Got a text this morning to say they got another bass and flounder each - totals update in the results section.
A pleasant, if tiresome evenings fishing, and nice to see some good sized bass caught.
There was another angler fishing a few hundred yards to our right, dont know how he got on though.
