Donegal bay rock techniques

I sometimes fish seaward of rock platforms, that have massive rock slabs/boulders - submerged at high tide and exposed at mid-low. They and the seaweed snag tackle. I can cast over them but they look as if they should hold fish if I had a technique. Any ideas?

use rubber shads or fake worms with the curly tails - embed the hook in the plastic and just drop past the weed and reel them in

use a ball weight 2foot above it with a swivel - try it 2 hrs before and after hw

if its deep enough youll get pollack down there no question

when you get to know the ground better move on to lead heads and other spinners

I will try this. My usual tactic is just to spin but during the day pollock are less inclined to bite. Thanks for the help.

Berkley firetails on lead heads. If that fails try german sprat. Hour before high tide usually has good results. Or trying getting some lug worms and green crabs. This will keep you in wrasse all day with Pollock also falling to the lug.

My original question probably had pollack in mind - lying in weed bedween really large boulders and me not being able to catch. Going for wrasse with lug/crab seems a good idea - it reminds me to think of alternative tactics. Is the logic of fishing the hour before high tide that fish move in on the rising tide to take advantage of deeper water and food, then leave on the drop?

thats the best thing about float fishing you can move it towards the fish holding areas and adjust the depth at any time
