spots around north west

rigs tope rigs float

bait fozen mack ,bluey, lug rag crabs ,sea trout ,place ,salmon pollock, dab sand eel and live mack

people all by myself help from a mate

after loseing to seaniebo in the last man standing i decide to go on a wee tope hunt for the week to cheer myself .so armed with everything in my arsenal i landed to a spot where one of the lads had a tope the week early . i decided to try a couple of differnet techniques .

first morning i got set up 2 hours before low with half frozen mack and lug with a home made swim feeder on after 2 hours with bait coming in untouched i set up swim feeder with mack and a whole dab on a slow retrieval no joy de cided to go back to bed and give another go the next day

second morning same crack 2 hours before low i had first line out whole sea trout on a float after 20 minutes had a serious rattle but as soon as i reeled in it was gone reeled in to find no bait left on hook set up whole joey no joy second blank

third day had a greta idea the night before of using live mack hooked on the lip on running line with a gripper weight out far and hook with a a fillet of fresh mack to scent up the area so head out in my wee boat with one of lads and caught aout 30 mack put them a keep net so i could keep the mack alive got off near the beach and waded in with my rod cold cold water :? baby drove out and droped off my line about 200 yards tried this 3 times wading out in cold water with no waders on to bait up decided to give up when my man hood had almost fully retreated

today just casting out tried every bait possible and every hook for 4 hours either side of low no joy not even a nibble after this week i think maybe i am not meant to catch tope but am going to give it a go next week or prob week after i will have to spend some time with herself she is not impressed but def finitly not put as moch effort (expensive) in to it if anyone has any tips feel free to help me
