rogue bass west waterford 25/6/09

#1 Post by seanie35 »

People:me and 30 mackeral bashers

Duration:10.45 till 1.30 am

Tide:low at 1.30

Weather:south easterly breeze

Bait:crab

Rigs:4/0 and weight

Results:smallest bass ever

Report: THE PLAN......... lurk about till the mackie bashers start to hit the road then take position on the end of the pier and cast out my superbait to just outside the arc of the pier lights and wait for the lunker. have had 4 fish here recently and have lost 1 absolute monster.

WHAT HAPPEND......did my slow lurk down the pier as the bashers started to disperse got to the end and theres a group of lads shouting and a hollerin......JESUS THE SPIKES ON THAT    , theyd just got a 3lb bass on feathers, i quickly tried to edge in to get a cast but i was getting the "you cant just barge in mate" feeling. finally got in at the top of the steps as "HUGH FALKUS" pulls in yet another 3lber to shouts of JESUS I AINT TOUCHING THAT YOKE    , at this stage i was laughing out loud. got talking the lads anyways and they told me 2 young lads had got 7 bass to similar size the night before on the feathers . Aint it funny how fishing just gets turned on its head every now and again. there was a general discussion as to can you eat THEM BUGGERS before they gave 1 away to another guy fishing alone who filleted it there on the spot and then gave me the 10 fresh sandeels in its gullet. tried them but no luck. the correct order of the universe was restored at 1am when i nailed a lunker of a bass that weighted at least 14 oz  ive decided rather than just be critical of these rogue rule breaking bass to actually try and be proactive and offer help in the form of a list of no nos to protect their so called elusiveness  TO ALL BASS

1, thow shall not act like lazy labradors on a sunny afternoon on bin collection day, remember you are the silver jaguars of the sea and you dont eat lidl cat food

2, Your only contact with mackeral should be when your eating them not hanging about with them like farm animals knock about together

3, before attempting to eat anything at least have a peek and see whats going on in the human world i.e whos got the best equipment

4,when swimming about you shall do so in formations of elusiveness, maybe get some ideas from such books as THE RED ARROWS "formations of the eightys" or CROP CIRCLES OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND

5, avoid eating feathers /hokkais, these guys dont want you, they want mackeral. your only allowed to eat or chase "PLUGS" with a human face value of over 12 euro
