I have heard of mullet being caught using all different sorts of weird and wonderful things such as: sugar puffs, popcorn, bits of sausage and even chicken!!! What do you think about that? I personally like using bread and the majority of my catches have came from using this method. I was just curious to hear what strange things you have tried or used to catch mullet and what success you have had. Come on, don't be embarrassed to admit what you have tried,

got a nice one about 4lb on the suir with a cows blood vessel/clot, local meat factory used to pump all sorts of crap into the river, wouldnt be odd to see a cows stomach floating past
hooked a mullet on bloody buther fly up the colligan river after sea trout he broke the leader just before i got to my hand and my dad had a 13lb mullet on a whole joey mackeral and 50lb trace
I mixed up fishy cat food and bread for groundbait and put some out every night for 5 days.. fished on the 6th and not a sign of a fish!!! I guess they thought there were cats about?????????? Never again...................................................................... Small bits of skinned squid work...just keep throwing bits in off a pier where you can look down at them...when they start feeding ...freeline a bit down ( or with a split shot a foot up and watch it...when thay suck it in strike...... You may have to try several times to get it to work.
Met a slovakian guy the other evening on a beach in dublin, after chatting a while he asked me all about mullet fishing then told me how he and his buddies used to get them with a garden fork whilst living/working in kerry last year, they`d soak them in milk before cooking but still tasted like mud ....these new irish really are a lovely bunch.
