donegal 29th june to 3rd july

#1 Post by corbyeire »

hello all,

im up this side of the country again under the guise of work - so its obviously its evening sessions

any place fishing well in particular??? bait availability in the area - the car still stinks from the various fish soups created in it during the warm weather in sligo!!!

im based near convoy early in the week and then further south near lough eske later in the week

still deciding whether to base myself in letterkenny and do the channels or down in donegal town and try the bay/st johns point

ive spent enough time in ballybofey on miserable nights with harps and galway united to do me for a lifetime - so not staying in the obvoius midpoint

thanks for all advice and pms

Alright fellas, a couple of you mentioned Easy tide - this is the online tide tables I use. My last couple of times fishing in Donegal Bay, the high water has definately been way off the prediction. What's the craic with that then? I'm planning to fish somewhere in the Killybegs vicinity on Sunday, and easy tide is telling me high water at 10:04. Is that not the way of it? Al

well it should be around 11pm then if you add on the hour - which sounds about right with the 00.30 prediction for monday night

I have been told that easytide is not too reliable.

However, if using easytide, there is a daylight saving button that needs to be selected to "1 hour" at this time of year.

Daylight Saving Warning: EasyTide predictions are based on the standard time of the country concerned. For the UK this is GMT and the daylight saving offset should be set to 1 hour to allow for British Summer time (from 01:00 am on Sunday 29th March 2009 until 02:00am on Sunday 25th October 2009).

I've mostly been fishing Portnoo from kayak. Fishing has not been great so far, but it will improve.

Plenty of coastline about for you to explore. If the weather was crap, you could always go salmon fishing on the Owenea. Free Ghillie service  It's my river.

I also heard there had been bad disruption on the roads in Donegal due to flash flooding. Have any of you fellas heard of any problems in Donegal Bay?

Cool. i'm away in London at the moment, happy to miss all that trouble. although the word on the jungle drums that i heard was that it was all happening over in the Gweedore area.

Corbyeire, I'm back next wednesday. Have you decided where you're going to be based? I'm thinking of having a Bass/Sea Trout rattle next thursday onwards.....

Yeah, never seen a drop of rain in Glenties. Not too far from Gweedore either.A cloud must have just burst over their heads.
