getting some fishing gear (rod and reel ) for a pressie and just dont wanna get fleesed or end up with crap merchandise

I have done some fishing before but mainly with line and boat when i was little but want to get back into it

would be even interested in some second hand gear if anyone has to offer something

for a good entry level rod, any of the shakespere salt range, very good rods, roughly around the 70-90euros, I presume you want a fixed spool reel,a cheap option is the leeda ocean roar, about 35euros and worked fine for me until i switched over to multipliers, and it got a lot of abuse  But you would be better off taking up golf, lot cheaper in the long run cause if you get hooked on this fishing mullarkey it will cost you thousands!!!!! :D
