Waterfoot, Co Antrim, 15th June 2009
People: Me
Duration: 13:00 - 18:00
Tide: High
Weather: Mediteranean
Bait: Rag, Frozen Lug & Sandeels
Rigs: 2 hook flapper
Results: 4 Flounder 2 plaice
Report:
I started on the beach. When I arrived visibility was about 20 yards due to the fog. I got two hand-sized flounders on my first cast but the line came back shrouded with weed. Afetr a few more casts I got fed-up with the weed and decided to move to the pier. As I was packing up a group of about 20 American hikers appeared out of the fog. It looked like a scene from a movie.
Shortly after I moved to the pier the fog lifted and the sun came out. It was really too sunny to expect to catch much. I managed 2 more small flounders and a plaice. Bites were non-stop but hard to hit (probably due to the mini-flatties). Also, there were sandeels everywhere with terns diving all across the bay. A few other guys were fishing for mackeral but were unsuccessful.
I finally got one decent sized plaice (28cm).
The top bait was definitely rag, unfortunately it was the worst bag of rag I've ever had the misfortune of buying. I won't say where I got it from as these things happen. Lets just say I won't be rushing back to buy from there again.
I'm off work again on Friday. Not sure where to go. Any ideas?

Re: Waterfoot, Co Antrim, 15th June 2009
nice session mate, you gotta love the yanks I had 2 of them spend most of the day with me at ballintoy a few years ago and all i did was say hello next thing they pulled out 2 fold out stools and sat watching me fish for about 4 hours
i felt like i was being quizzed by the c.i.a.
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.
2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.
