That was myself and krusty off here on the far pier. was actually on rag till we seen you pull in the macks. there was a group of lads dont know if they were still there when you arrived but they were bagging everything from dogs to fish no bigger than goldfish. shocking stuff!

We had just over 3 doz from a boat yesterday while fishing out of Baltimore harbour. Most of them were taken within casting distance of the shore off the next headland east of the beacon. All of them were very large fish with a few up to 18 oz. Most of them were full of eggs and milt, something I've never noticed before.

Spent 3 hours yesterday morning 7.30 to 10.30 am at Collimore and caught none. There was a big shoal of sandeel there the whole time and it was warm and sunny. I've heard early in the morning and late evening are the feeding times. 7.30 am at this time of year might be too late.
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.

Hello,
Could someone let me know if there are about in numbers in Youghal, Ballycotton or Cobh these evenings.
I have a good friend in who wants to bring his youngsters fishing, but he's got a fair bit to drive.

Thanks

Blackie

Blackie,
The Macks are gone a bit scattered at Cobh again. Two weeks ago you'd filled bucketfulls. I'll let you know when it livens up again.

Visited Clogherhead today between 11.30am and 2.00pm. Had'nt been there for years, new harbour is impressive.

There was about 10 people fishing from the pier and I saw 5 mackerel caught, 2 on feathers at the end of the pier and 3 on float fished mackerel strips, 2 of which were caught halfway down the pier and the other at the entrance.

Speaking to a few of the guys there the fishing has been slow and nothing like it used to be when I used to go down there years ago.

Anywhere else around the area where you can fish for mackerel?

wednesday evening 24th, watched a guy pull a few singles in at the rocks south of colliemore!
tempted to try for them but was happy using my lug. i'll wait til they are hopping
i did notice as it got dark on the rise the sprats were jumping out of the water just beside the edge, and the guy only caught the mac just before this time at around 10pm!
eye protection is needed here as hooks and lead come from every direction.
there are a few non mac-basher spots here on low/dropping tide but quickly fill on the rise :)
so be ready to move! :)
