bait digging fork

#1 Post by beachbuddy »

Hi all,
might seem like a silly question but i was wondering can anyone recommend a strong fork for digging lug rag in primarily sandy regions with a bit of sludge thrown in for good measure. Is it possible to get one piece forks that won't break after a few months of abuse.I must be after going through half a dozen in the past 3 years, despite hosing them down after use.
Is it possible to get such an item or does a person just have to grin and bare it

If you go to some of the specialist garden centres, one piece digging forks can be got but they're very pricey.

If you can make one i made my one out of a digging fork head and and inch diameter piping and wraped some grailla tape around the handle. It is heavy but it wouldn t break and you can also use it to turn over rocks to get peeler crabs :D hope this helps and good luck

This lot are rubbish, buy yourself a top quality fork and it will last a lifetime a bulldog flat tined fork, the hardware shop in dunboyne should have them but there not cheap about 60 yo yo.
This is the fork all the top bait diggers use.

I go through several forks each year at work and while bait gathering. I get the odd hand tool from this shop and the quality of the tools is very good even though some are a bit pricey. I have a light handled hoe for about 10 years and the handle looks like it will wear away before it breaks. They do mail order as well. Here is a picture of a flat tinned fork.
