Keeping lug alive

#1 Post by alancooper »

I dug lug last Sat afternoon and after washing in sea water and removing damaged ones, I covered them in a bucket with seaweed but poured off all the sea water. I used them Tue and Thur (when I washed them in fresh sea water each time) and they were still good. They seem to keep well if just damp and cool (out of ther sun), rather than covered with sea water. Any other tips?

10 to 20 to a wrap in newspaper and as you did, remove damaged ones,
keep them in the fridge if possible and change the paper and iffy ones daily.
keeping them in a tray of airated fresh sea water, changed daily is also
recommended but i have not tried this.
lucky for me i live 10min from super lug beds so long term storage is not necessary.
