Report:tried limpets on a float for wrasse no bites,had some mackerel and lug on the sea bed and had one good bite then the line went slack reeled in but noting on,tried feathers and had 3 pollack biggest 2 lbs weight

Based on the colour of the fish there was plenty of kelp there.

plenty of kelp alright but have not lost any rig yet,its a fairly deep mark,most fish are over 250 feet from the shore

the sun had set before they started to bite,i was surprised they could see the feathers at all

Hello Gerry,
It looks like you're in the same spot, if so a good method for gunner there would be to get a lead head hook and with your limpet or green crab aboard, and with a dangle it at three quarter depth (or vary). Do this on the flowing tide from about half tide up. The disadvantage is that you can't have the feathers on the go at the same time. It's certainly worth a half hour or so per session, if you get a few bites you'll know why it's worth it. The locally known gunner rock is very close by (Carraig Cuan a Bhaid), but does get surrounded at spring tide time so beware! On this rock (facing north) you would have a better chance of gunner but fishing the bottom close in will lose you tackle. If you go there on a low tide you will see a notch of deep water where you would target.

hi mate thats a nice result on the feathers strange no wrasse on the limpets but a lot of things are a bit strange at the moment its like every things a month or so behind hopefully the fishing will pick up very soon great pics and report tight lines

hi tom thank you for all the information and advice,i hope to try it again sunday and get there before low water to get a good look at the mark and look for a few crab and limpets,i was not sure where to fish the last day but saw some limpet shells and old crab on a stone so tried there,didn't expect much the last day because by the time i set up it was near high water
i think i know Carraig Cuan a Bhaid just to the south i had a bit of a look there the last day and thought it might be interesting
wont be long now i hope until i get my first wrasse

didn't get to fish the incoming tide which should be better,water is cold still,this time last year i was catching 2 or 3 ray every session but this year only got one hopefully it will get good soon

i used red blue and green feathers i find they work better then the black feathers which i also tried before i changed feathers,had no bite on the black feathers but 2 casts later on the colored ones had a bite

most of the pollack did go for the red feather on the string of feathers,i am waiting on red feathers from china should have them shortly and then it should be fun
