Hi Lads,
I'm looking for some advice on places to sea fish in Kerry.
Currently based in Killarney. My fishing will be in the evenings after work.
I'm looking to target bass ( once the season opens again) and ray ( particularly sting ray so Tralee Bay?) maybe flatfish but I'll gratefully catch anything thats willing. Since my time is restricted I would prefer to minimise the time in the car.
I'm restricted to Frozen bait ( macks + sandeels), can't cast very far and am not very experienced. Since I can only really go after work I'll be forced to fish what every tide is available. I don't suppose there is mark that fishes well at all stages of the tide? a magical mystical mark?
If there is anyone out there looking for an apprentice I'm be happy to tag along and carry your gear any evening in exchange for some tips.
I know I'm asking alot but you gotta set the targets high if you want to fail badly!!

Trouble.

Re: Kerry Area
I am not about to mention any places or marks in particular for you to go but I will tell you this.
Try fishing virtually any beach or rock mark, look for where there is a river running into the sea and fish either side of that.
You have the chance of catching sea trout and bass that way.
I fish down in Kerry alot and know the area very well, all I will say is that every single beach I have fished has produced something.
Don't worry about not being able to cast that far, you actually don't have to in order to catch fish in particular - Bass. They are usually found within the third or forth breaker/wave out.
People seem to think they have to cast far , even when fishing good surfs when in fact they are probably casting too far out from the fish missing them completely!!
The two main baits I use and would reccommend to you is Razorfish and Lugworm.
You will get the razorfish from Landers as well as frozen lugworm, but the fresh stuff is the best.
Good luck and let me know how you get on.
