Come to think of it, that utility waistcoat would be handy too.

I'm no graphic designer (no bloody fisherman either these days) but I think that design may run into the same difficulties K2, as Kiwijbob pointed out. I could be wrong but I think what he was talking about is that it would be difficult to embroider fields of colour (such as the blue background) and detailed outlines such as the Irish coastline and the coat of arms). Perhaps he was thinking of something like a line drawing, relatively straightforward, single colour.

I like the shark - how about just reproducing the site logo but as a line drawing? A simple blue rectangular box with the outline of the shark (hereafter referred to as... actually what's the shark's name? Kieran maybe?) and http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org in text above it?

not very adventurous but should be simple to reproduce...

Eerr thanks there Rocky 2b2

Siorc is the irish for Shark that sounds good enough to me, any thoughts?
I will organise a line drawing this evening if I get a minute!

FWIW...

my 2 cents

I like K2s idea, I also like the shark. What about some in between. The crest could be circular, the words Sea-Angling-Ireland in a semi-circle formation around the edge, outline of Ireland as the background and a nice shark accross the Ireland map. The shark could be a sort of character or mascot type drawing, something that looks like it has a bit of personalty, almost friendly if you will, I think that might represent the nature of this forum and club. It would also be difficult to get the logo we have now onto a fabric and keep the photo quality.

Mb3, how about showing off your other gifts, whip up something spectacular.....

Good idea Jon. Keeping it simple should reduce the cost to get them made. Just need to make it a bit different to this one:-

jon's idea sounds excellent and in the spirit of K2's idea too. Tis very very close to that other club's logo but are that other club active? That homepage says it was set up in 1998. Is it still on the go? Are any forum members involved?

oops!

Never saw that logo before, bit uncanney that I managed to copy their idea. I think our one would look a bit more colourful though and with a more "cheerful" shark.

I'm all out of ideas after that.... :)

cheers

I know I'm being a pest with this, but has anyone thought of a logo?
I've tried to think of something, with no luck.
Maybe a comp for best logo design?
Maybe I should keep the fingers off the keyboard?

How about a great big hook with an outline map of Ireland hooked through Lough Neagh dangling from it, and the name circling it?

Though I'm not a member of the SAC I am a recent member of the forum. If you do manage to get around to making T-shirts or hats available to forum members you can put me down for three. Just send me a message with the price and billing details.

Top idea and can do nothing but prommote the site :D

I agree with Chris Mc, although not a member yet, I would defo purchase these goods. Jackets or T-Shirts sound great, as do hats. If there is going to be a t-shirt, why not promote conservation on it too, as well as the website address. Myself and John D, recently met up with Neilus down in Limerick, and at first we hadnt a clue who he was, and just by chance we walked towards him and then we knew. The hats, jackets or t-shirts would be a great way of recognising fellow users of this site. And promoting the site to non-users. Looking forward to the developments lads.

Ok. After god knows how long, I've managed to throw something together. I havent added the www link to it, so have a gander and see what you think. By the way, I haven'y checked it against other clubs logo's, so apologies if it does. The only think I took from the web was the outline of Ireland.
The picture itself is in the General section in the Album. Couldnt attach to the post because photobucket is blocked from here (work).
Dont be afraid to slate it
