I have used whitebait (I caught and froze) on the boat on a day I didn't get any mackerel and I did OK with it. They were all clumped together and kind of broke up on the hook, but think that may have been a good thing giving a little bait trail...

whitebait ( sprats ) are my num;1 bait for seatrout, they are "lethal" keep them in a flask froze, and mount them one at a time on a 1'0 hook. i have a video on here on how to mount them, if you check with the serch box you should find it.

Where do you get them? I think I've been in every Tesco in Derry looking for them, can't find them anywhere.
