dublin bay

#1 Post by m.b3 »

People:myself and JD

Duration:about 3hours...

Tide:in!

Weather:light breeze in the face

Bait:crab,squid

Rigs:myself an up and over and a pennell for JD

Results:to follow

Report:the last few sessions have been nothing but hardwork and little to show for our efforts in the way of targetted species. a plaice hunt, a ray hunt, little in the way of mackeral and 3 botched smoothie hunts so when JD asked if i wanted to try again i thought well why yes of course! he said that wednesday evening was the time while i was just happy enough to get out and chuck lead. armed with a rod and reel each a few crab and a tripod between us we were greated by a fishy looking sea. we quickly baited up. i lashed one and JD put his out just over the rocks. after the last few poor sessions i wasn't expecting much as i turned to bait up my other rig i was more confused than anything when i saw my rod bouncing over in the corner of my eye no more than a minute after castin! surely something must be wrong! i left it a minute or two longer then retrieved to look at the bait just to be sure. sure enough it had been smashed. straight(ehem cough cough...) out again and within a minute the rodtip bent over slowly as a smut made it's way off with bait. i wound down into it and the first smoothie of the session made his way to shore. a few casts more saw five more fish landed in similar fashion and JD getting annoyed with me but he was soon rewarded with his first fish- proof that complaining does actually work! i added another 4 fish and JD added a second both of us dropping a fish or two each as we tried to guide them around the rocks. we left happy after a short session that produced the goods. no monsters but good craic with all the fish swimming off strong.
