Report:After long 7 days week in work being so tired to farest trips, headed out for mullet yesterday and today in Arklow. The weather conditions with no wind yesterday was great, so I tried first time float fishing for mullet this year. There was plenty of every size mullet swimming in the estuary of Avoca River. I put some pieces of bread on the surface and couple fish started feeding. So I prepared my light tackle 10ft rod with small float and after about half an hour, and few missed bits I landed my first mullet this year
not big but counted. After that fun was over for today.Had day off I settled for another bash at the mullet today. The weather was quite different like yesterday. Still sunny but north eastearly wind brought cold feeling. Caused also lot of difficulties with casting. But change for bigger float worked well. Float got burried fwe times and finally I landed 3 fish today and missed many more. I didn't weight any of them but thinkthe biggest was close to 4lbs maybe more. Happy days
. There was a few more anglers, but they blanked, so I employed one of them for my photo session. All fish after quick photo went back unharmless to the river. Regards.
