Dirty Ground Rod

Right lads need a dirty ground rod. any suggestions?

how dirty is dirty, for fairly rough i use a nemesis slr plus, soft enough tip that your gear doesnt constantly get dragged into snaggs by the tide but still stiff enough to cast half a mack and a 6oz..for the really nasty stuff i use a conoflex enigma, basically doesnt bend

Like Shane says..how stiff is stiff....I use a TT Sport, does everything i ask of it. But i can also cast this rod without it ripping the arms off me.

Century Kompressor Sport or TT Sport (softer than Kompressor) are good rods to look at.
The Century CME is a bit of a beast too...has good bite detection and plenty of hauling power as is the CM Crest as someone else mentioned.
(You can see i tend to use Century rods a lot!!)

Greys Nitra also, its slim and powerful, bite detection isnt brilliant but you may have to compromise on strength/grunt for bite detection.
Greys Apollo also.

Ron Thompson Axellerator (spl) is also suppsoed to be a good rod, cheaper than the others i have mentioned also.

I am sure others can recommend Zziplex etc that could meet your requirements also......

I have no experience of century's at all. I would to owe to be honest but somehow i have went down the Anyfish Anywhere route. They are great rods but they have a difficult spigot. The TT Sport looks like a beast and looks like its suits the bill.

Its for exactly as you described, enough to send half a mack and 6oz lead and enough give in it to sit in a fast tide without ripping the lead out. Its for the like of dragging dgggies, conger or rays outa weed as well.

the slr would definately fit that bill, used it the past year and a half and never found it wanting, had an 18lb conger and a 12lb huss both from very foul ground last year without much hastle

As you mentioned AA rods I thought I would reply as I have a few myself. As the lads say how dirty is dirty. I fish a fair bit of snaggy ground where 20lb and 25lb line with 100% knots is standard which I would call mixed ground but I wouldnt regularly fish the real stuff where your getting snagged on most casts and need 30lb line. I have the AA big beach and beach. Both are fine for my purposes. The main difference is the big beach is more tippy which could cause a problem pulling fish through weed but it is a much nicer all round rod. The AA beach is pure progressive and bends into the fish. I think bigphil had the AA rock rod so you could ask him if you want something more powerful. Theres also the new tournament AA rock rod.

Fished a mark up in the Antrim Coast at the weekend. It was more of a mixed ground with a snaggy hole in some places. I was using 50lb braid and rotten bottom rigs. I think it was more the fact I wasn't lifting into the fish and as a result getting smashed everytime. I was using the AA match at the time. I think I want something abit more stiffer just .....but something I am going to use on fast flowing tides also if that makes sense!
