People:myself

Duration:14.00 to 2300

Tide:high 11.58 4.1m low 17.56 1.7m

Weather:very warm sunny day with light wind

Bait:mackerel,razor fish

Rigs:various,mackerel feathers,float rig

Results:8 pollack




Report:
tried for some ray first but noting happening,while waiting i gathered a few hard back crab to try for wrasse later spotted a small fish in the rock pool,any ideas what he is

moved to a different spot to try for wrasse,no joy on the wrasse so tried feathers to see if any mackerel around but got 8 pollack instead,the biggest was 2.5 lbs
nice to see the pollack back again and nice to get a fish after so many blanks :oops: :oops:

some nice pollack there man :P :P . it's hard to say what the wee chap is as you can't see his dorsal or anal fin, but if i had to guess i'd say sand goby or female dragonet :? :? just as well the shanny's in the pool did'nt see him or he would have been lunch :shock: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

looks like a sand goby i think,no shanny around,he was only sharing with a green crab that was about the size of him,still nice to see,i will have to explore the rock pools a bit more to see what is in them

all caught on mackerel feathers,most of them went for the yellow and red feathers,lidl feathers :D which were a lot stronger then i thought,the first pollack put up a great fight,took 10 min to land him

what area are you going after the pollack,i know a few good pollack marks near spiddle if ye are heading down that way,it was my first time fishing the mark i fished yesterday it seems good,most fish were about 80m/90m from the shore,if you are heading to clifden i will pm you the mark

thanks mate dont think i will be fishing clifden we will most likely be fishing the marks around black head and ballyreen it being good to us over the last few years with good size pollock but if i change my mind i will pm u thanks again

i have to thank you for the pollack,i tried the spot you told me,had a float with crab on but no gunner decided to try a few feathers while i was waiting for bites and then got the pollack,looks like a good spot for the gunner,will be back to it again shortly :D

well done on the pollock gerry, the ray are still scarce i see. i see a few huss getting caught on white lady, thats your good info working :D

got a bit more info for big ray going to try the mark soon to see if any around,with my luck there wont be any :roll: :roll:

I don't want to turn this into a barf inducing love in BUT
I have to agree with Shamoo, fair play for changing tactics, why? 'Coz I have never even considered fishing with feathers from this spot, and it was only last year I figured it out as a gunner spot (despite growing up within a stone's throw).

I'll admit that I was going to send you a PM to ask where the spot was :shock: :D
