fanad 18.05.09

#1 Post by last cast lad »

People:me & mick

Duration:10.00-2.30

Tide:high at 1.00

Weather:soft showers

Bait:squid, mackeral

Rigs: pulley

Results:1 thornback, 1 dogfish

Report: headed down to a fanad pier mark but there already were 4 rods set up  so after much deliberation as to a new venue we decided on a local shallow pier mark which neither of us had much confidence in. Got set up and after about 45min I had a classic thornback bite , then nothing, then another, then nothing, then another so I struck and missed it   . Then after a long time of focusing the powers of our concentration :x on the rod tips we got Mick a well coloured 7lb thornback :D :D . Then we settled back to nothingness until we decided to pack up at 2.30 and with 7.30 feeling very close to be getting up for work yours truely "last cast lad" pulled in a clump of weed with a nice lip hooked 60cm dogfish to save the blank :!:
However we just couln't help wondering what would have been had we been able to get onto our preferred mark, I was down at it for a short45 min session on saturday and lifted a cocky we 81cm conger :) .
Curious question at what length/weight does a juevenille become a fully fledged congor and what is a juevenille :?:

Nice going mate. Nice pic of the conger also, looking forward to having a go for them myself over the "summer" months.
