Session on bad weather forecast - Kilteery Pier May 16, 2009

#1 Post by simplywabs »

People: Me & Gabriel

Duration: 18:30 - 22:30

Tide: Very Low

Weather: Strong winds

Bait: Mackerel, Squid Heads

Rigs: (2) 2 hook flapper, pennel pulley

Results: 1 Whiting, 5 Dab, 1 Ling

Report:

Can't let the weekend pass by without going out for a cast. Week after week Gabriel and I are buying some stuff for fishing. We got hooked into it and are now enjoying every session rain or shine, high or low tide, good or bad weather. Blank or not. We started with reels & rods on normal hooks, then bought new reels, got new rigs, head lamps, bait, etc.

Yesterday was so far our best though it is normal to veterans. We got several dabs (5), 1 whiting and 1 ling. The very low tide and blustery wind did not really matter as long as we enjoyed the cast. I have a couple of photos from yesterdays session again at the Kilteery Pier in Limerick.

Without seeing a photo I'd say it was more likely your ling was a shore rockling. Good to see your getting a few fish.

Maybe you are right Donagh. I just took the word of the lads fishing beside us. I had to release it back before I can take a picture because it looks weak. Maybe its a rockling. I'll know more when I catch another one.

hit the search button at the top of the page and put rockling into it and you should get up a few pics. might give you a better idea of what it was.
