Rubber seals for around windows
Hello all just after joining, checked out a few of the other topics and found them very helpfull. Iam in the process of doing a full retoration of a 15ft Lee fisher cuddy, The rubber seals around the perspex windows was perished so I threw them away, so now Iam on the search for new ones but cant seem to find anybody that does such a thing. I would fit them myself if I could get them. Also Iam looking for some tinted perspex to fit as windows. It would be helpful if I could get these in or around the Cork area.

Re: Rubber seals for around windows
Welcome!
The last time I got some polycarbonate I went to Blarney Trading in Ballincollig. Would the Co-op shops have perspex which would be cheaper? The polyc will be tougher and is a better bet.
I cannot think of anybody in Cork that would have the "Bead and Seal" that you are looking for. I think that IC&T supplies i Dublin used stock it before. http://icandtsupplies.com/
Most manufacturers nowadays bolt their windows in. The window is over sized and is bolted over the hole on a bed of polyurethane sealer or rubber gasket

Aye Styrman that would be the best bet if possible. Warrior use a plastic bolt, although I suppose stainless would do too. It is important to spread the sealer evenly behind the polyc so it looks Ok.

I too got seals from Sealsdirect.co.uk. Make sure you get an exact match as your windows might be a pig to get in. When cutting the profile to length, fit it to the opening rather than the window to measure. If you don't, (like I did) you'll end up with a gap where the rubber ends meet and the water will come in
Also to aid fitting the rubber seal, soak it in a bucket of hot water to soften it.

Just back from Ballincollig, got my bronzed polycarbonate from Blarney trading. Just over half a sheet for €50. Full sheet for €140 8' by 4'. So I think I came away with a very good bargain, sound bloke aswell.
Rang O Sullivan Marine aswell about those seals on a chance they might have them got threw to there parts department the fellow said he has them but there not in stock for about 2 weeks he didnt really have much time for me are my money. I guess some people think there still in the celtic tiger, I'll be taking my buissiness across the pond I think. Shame

Nice one fergal........
As can clearly be seen in the pic, the seal has one paw/flipper/whateverit'scalled up in the air to hold in the perspex.
Now, stay on topic lads or I'll have to mod this.
Rubber seal indeed!

I'm in Cork and in the same position.
Blarney trading, are they the cheapest for polycarbonate or the best?
I've heard the likes of BandQ are very expensive even for perspex.
Right now I am looking at the cheapest thing I can get, and I'll look to maybe get something better in a few years if needed.

Highly recommend seals direct. Got some new window seals for my Microplus from them. I sent them a photo of the cross section of the rubber and they were able to get me something that fitted perfectly.
