Duration: 2.5 days
Tide: All stages
Weather: Beautiful
Bait: Tasmanian Devils
Results:
40 Twaite Shad including a Specimen of 2 lbs. 11 ozs.
Yellow or Blue/Silver Taz best.
Made the long drive from West Clare for the Annual Shad Pilgrimage to St. Mullins!
I never saw so many anglers here and I have been making this trip for nearly 30 years!
At 5 am some anglers were already moving into the hotspots!
I found a quite spot up river where the shad were not as plentiful as at the hotspots but the average weight was high.

Nice fishing. This Shad fishing in St.Mullins is starting to look like the Cheltenham Festival I must ask Christy Moore will he write a song about it.

Well the more you advertise it mate........
Forgive my ignorance, I am not sure if this "run" is a spawning thing or not but if it is then surely it would be wise to try to keep it low key..?
Dont get me wrong, not trying to put a downer on it at all, nice result, but the every year you are going to find it hard to find those quiet spots mate.

No harm in the reports on the site considering there was a feature on them in irish angler recently. Have to say, the people i met and chatted to up there were very friendly. Much more so than the equivalent grunting at monkstown wall in the winter, must have been the sunshine
Beautiful spot, and enjoyable to fish too.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial
