Dalkey 11/5

#1 Post by Cormdogg »

Me and the 3 stooges I live with

8.30-11pm

Feathers and a gift of lug about 20 min before we packed up

A little breezy, tide about half way in

2 pollock one 3 bearded rockling.

Arrived home from work to find the lads had decided they wanted to go fishing and I was going to bring them. No joy for mack in Superquinn so I loaded the box up with feathers and spinners I didn't mind somebody else losing. Arrived at Nolans Park, went down to the rocks, set the lads up with feathers, Left two of them to their own devices and went for a wander with my mate Dec who has fished a bit. After only a couple of casts I caught a small pollock, I nearly thought it was a whiting first but a small pollock it was and it had wonderful brown markings, I can't believe I missed pollock! I then noticed that there was very little action from the lads as they had all been snagged and were waiting for me to liberate them. We decided to move down to colliemore as it was getting darker, Eventually a determined Robbie caught a little pollock on a feather, He caught his first brown trout and Saturday and his first pollock on a Monday, I might have a fellow angler in the house! A chap came down and had a chat as the lads continued to throw everything in my tackle box at the sea. The lad I was chatting to had come down to fish but the rip at Colliemore was in full flow so he decided not to bother but he did offer me some bait, and gave me two huge newspaper rolls of big fat fresh lug! Happy days, enough for at least 4 sessions, so thank you kind stranger. Id only one little rig that I had saved in my wallet for emergencys and baited up and got a little 3 beared rockling after about 2 minutes. The lads had had enough by then so we all crammed back into the car.

A very enjoyable little session, at last the lads dont think Im completely crazy for standing on rocks for hours at an end staring at my rod tip.

It only cost me about 25 quid in weights and feathers!

Unfortunately the downside in Dalkey again was the rubbish and litter, it really boils my blood, especially when its rig wrappers and bait tubs, when will people learn? I don't understand it myself.

Ha thanks doggie! Im the youngest at 27! Ill take that as a compliment! But the lads were like ten year olds exploring the rock pools and taking turns examining the alien rockling!

Good to see something other than whiting being caught there. Fair play. I hear you on the rubbish; it's terrible. We've discussed this before. It's not even all that busy there yet, I can't imagine what the place will be like in the height of summer. It will eventually get to the point where the locals will complain about the amount of rubbish, given a large portion of it is directly related to fishing, they'll just close it off for fishing. People can be so stupid.
