high rock, biggest doggie i've caught yet- 08/05/09

So qith left over bait from night before, But against the clock, so could not venture further afield, I decided to while away a few hours at high rock. Got ther just before 8pm, placed down my gear and was about to put on my wet gear trousers, when I noticed a young guy, bout 14, down on the rocks, calling his dog...His dog, a young red setter , was furiously swimming back and forth, tryin to find a way out of the swell.The dog started to go under, so fishing had to wait, I climbed down ladder and managed to get a grip on the dog's collar, hoisted him out and got the leg drenching of a life time in the process and my rain trousers not 6 ft away from me!!!
THe kid seemed relieved, so I hoped karma would place a very large fish on my line...

And with hope in my heart I began fishing.....

Only got one rod rattle all night, but no fish on the end of it.. Didn;t mind though, lovely night to be out and it managed to shift all the stress from the week's work, which is what it is all about , right?

By the sounds of things its a good thing you were there and you deserve much kudos for saving the little fellow and getting a soaking in the process. Its a pity the fishing wasn't as good but I'm sure your good deed will be rewarded at some stage.

Well done on saving the dog, had to pull a german shepherd dog out of the canal yrs ago, no mean feat when their coat gets wet, as Dave said it was a good job you were there and you 're due one hell of a session soon

well done mate, it was a good job you where there, just think what could have happened if the young boy had tried to rescue the dog, so no doudt some day karma will pay you back, lets hope its with a big bass

cheers, yeah, It feels so good to help others, that lad was soundin to sound frantic and not watchin the swell, saw him misstep twice, with the swell gettin both his legs to the knee..

was gonna take a pic of the dog but it looked like it just needed to run and dry off, sure yer man 'd thought I was a nut asking could I take a pick of his half drowned dog..haha
but reckon it was defo specimen weight...
