Piers/Marks around Bundoran?

#1 Post by Fentster »

Am heading over to Bundoran this weekend with my 2 young lads (beginners busting to use their new rods). I am relatively inexperienced  too so any help appreciated!
Can anyone suggest a good spot or two for us to try? Don't mind travelling a bit.
Thanks.

There are plenty of great marks there, If you park at Tullan Beach there is a walkway that brings you along the cliffs, have taken pollock and Mack in abundance there on feathers. It could be dangerous for the young lads as some of the cliffs are steep enough. There is a pier in the middle of the town that would be a safer option but I havn't fished it myself, The only other spot I've fished is at what the locals call Rogey rock near the great Northern Hotel. If you can swing you might see if you can get a half days charter, there is supposed to be a lot of good ones, Im sure you could google them, Enjoy

If you wanted somewhere safe for kids try Mullaghmore about 15 mins drive towards Sligo. You can fish off the peir extension in comfort. Fishing into darkness will get dogs and coalies. You'll also pick up flats and the odd sea trout. It can be busy during the day and is best fished in the evening on a high tide. Hope this helps.

Went to Mullaghmore. Nice place and as you say very safe for the kids on or around the end pontoon. Fished it for about 2 hours up to evening high tide. Plenty of fry about. We all drew blanks though but the sun was shining and we had a good feed afterwards in the Pier restaurant! Will return there myself later in the year and fish off the other side of the breakwater as I imagine there is good depth there.
