Rosslare Point 2nd May

#1 Post by beebub2 »

People: Me & the bro

Duration: 11am – 1pm

Tide: high at about 12pm

Weather: sunny & warm

Bait: mack & sandeel

Rigs: Pulley (3/0), 2 hook flapper (2/0)

Results: Zip diddly

Report: I wasn’t going to bother with this, but someone asked me to let them know how I got on at the mark. It’s a beautiful spot to fish so the blank didn’t bother me in the least. Thanks to Danny M. for the tips. We had a 5 year old, a 4 year old and two 3 years olds with us, so I thought we’d last as long as it takes to build one sand castle and have to pack up. The point is a perfect spot for kids. They can’t get away and there are sand dunes and rock pools for them to play in. Two solid hours fishing and the kids would likely have stayed longer. No fish though! We set up beside the rocks and cast over them. It looks to be quite deep the other side of the rocks. We fished about the hour either side of high tide with 3 rods, but no luck. Great little spot though.

Did you go all the way to the point at The Burrow? I'm not sure I'd facny negociating that last stretch of road at night (I say road, it's a dirt track of compacted sand with fairly hefty holes along the way). I noticed too that the tide mark at the end of the last little cove before the point is pretty high. It didn't come all the way in when we were there but it has in the past. Meaning that at high tide you'd be cut off by the sea on the point. Does that happen a lot there? It doesn't look to me to be the most appealing palce to fish at night.

yep, the roadway does get cut off during big tides, to be honest its pretty unfishable here during big tides due to the race of tide.

Yep lovely spot. Unlucky no fish. You will get tope of here in a month or so and only really on the big tides when the rip is fierce, and no you can't hold bottom.

Pity about the lack of fish mate, its a great venue from next month on. Dont let the blank put you off, give it another shot if you can mid summer.

Aim to fish after a good spell of High Pressure coinsiding with a large tide.

unlucky with the blank man :( :( . you should get a wee bait net for the kids. they are great craic when fishing harbours and piers. i got one for jordan when he started fishing and it keeps them interested when the fishing gets slow. we've pulled up all sorts in ours over the years and they only cost £7 or £8
