03/05/09 Whiterock / Rocks at Greystones

#1 Post by Dave »

People:Me

Duration:2:30 - 10:30

Tide: low tide at 1:30 high tide at 8:20

Weather:Sunny with the odd light shower

Bait:Mackerel and Rag

Rigs:3 hook flappers and mini species setup

Results: Flounder, Shanny, Corkwing Wrasse, Dab, 5 Bearded Rockling and lot and lots of Whiting

Report:
I hadn't done any sea fishing worth talking about in a while so I thought I'd make the most of the long weekend and squeeze in a bit. Actually now that I think of it apart from bringing my Dad out for a bit of whiting bashing the other week I don't think I've been out sea fishing since mid February. :o I was hoping to add a few more species to my dismal species count, so I headed to Whiterock in search of some Flounder. I figured I'd give it an hour or so before heading on to Greystones and it wasn't exactly to most action packed session but I got what I came for, a double shot of Flounder before heading on to Greystones in search of some mini species. I got off to a slow start in Greystones but the mini species approach paid off and it wasn't too long before I got a little Shanny and a Corkwing Wrasse. So after I started getting rattles on the big rod and reeled in two double shots of Dab and Whiting in quick succession. The whiting were a sign of things to come and I lost count of the amount of Whiting, I even started catching them in close on the mini species setup. The monotony of Whiting was only broken with a little 5 bearded rockling, another new species. :D Despite the plague of Whiting it wasn't a bad session, six species and four new ones. :D

Well done Dave, i tried for mini species at the rocks in Greystones on Sat with no success, nice to see them back. The whiting came after dark, and the dogs, and I was glad to see them
