WHITEY BASHING!!

#1 Post by beebub2 »

People: A couple of Whitey Bashers

Duration: 7.30pm – 11pm

Tide: who cares

Weather: grand, bit windy in Colimore

Bait: rag, mack, crab

Rigs:3 hook flappers, 3/0 pulley

Results: whiting, whiting, whiting bloody bloody sick to the back teeth of bloody whiting. Oh, and 1 dog and 1 dab

Went to Colimore in the daylight in a deluded state thinking something could be caught spinning with feathers. Didn’t last long doing that. The current was quite strong and it was fairly windy. We moved on to Sorrento Point but it was too busy so we continued on to Bray harbour only to find the pier upon which you can drive too busy also. Feckin’ Mackie bashers!!

So we went to the other pier. Set up 1st rod with 3 hook flapper and caught a steady stream of whiting. When are these stupid fish going to bugger off??? When???

I tried a 3/0 hook with a peeler crab on the other rod but got not a sniff.

The dog was a half decent fight according to Mr. 8wood. Even the dab put up a bit of a fight on my lighter rod.

But the blasted whiting barely even give you a knock. Where’s the fun in that??

No photos. If you don’t know what a 20 cm whiting looks like, you’ve not been fishing anywhere near where I’ve been fishing and good luck to you I say!

Seriously, anyone know when they’re likely to leave?

Hi Beebub2, was this last night :? , cos I was on the pier in Bray last night from 7pm -11pm. Mine was the only car there last night so if you think thats busy youre in for a shock in the summer   . There were 2 lads there when i arrived who left soon after and 1 other chap came later on,,,,,not exactly overcrowded   As for mackie bashing   ,,,,,,,,I wish :!: ,,,,havent got one in ages,,,and if it wasnt for the 7 x blasted whiting i would have just got a solitary Dab,, so I for one was glad of them. I find them to be getting cleverer and harder to connect with. I'll miss them when they go, which I believe is on May 1st. In the photo below the one on the left is the whiting

Hi Eyes,

That was myself further up the pier last night. Things got quite busy after you left. Got a dog and a load more of the whiting, bit bigger than usual. Had a couple of small dabs to.

Always good to put a face to a name. Didn't realise it was you I was talking to.

Cheers,

Stephen

Hi Stephen, well done on pulling out a few species, the report had me a bit confused, thought it might have been you but wondered where the other angler was fishing,,,,, didnt think it was "Sexy Paul",( as the "young ladies " called him), on his bike across on the other pier  .Would have liked to have stayed a while longer but she who must be obeyed was with me

Eyes,

The Mackie Bashing refernece was meant as a joke by the way. I'm not used to using these things:  to fully outline the meaning behind my words . Maybe I sould ask Al for some tips

which I believe is on May 1st

Is that a promise?? Is it an exact date? As in next Friday every piddly pin whiting will up an leave? Is it like The Great Migration? Do they leave in one big shoal on 1st May?

If that's the case shouldn't there be a Whiting report up for those that manage to catch a Whiting after 1st May??

I know you were only kidding about the Mackie bashers, anyways i'm not that thin skinned   As for the whiting , i think they stick around all year. I caught them through all the months last year so you'll have to just put up with them
