Hey lads,

Been a while since my last post but to be honest its been a while since I've got some fishin' done.

Me and a mate are headin' to Easky next weekend and we will have the rods with us. I'll be camping down near the pier as I stayed there on numerous ocassions when surfing. Just wondering is the pier any good for fishing off and are there any other decent spots close by? Had a look at the 'marks' section both here and on cfb website and I kow most of the areas but can anyone tell me where is fishing good at the moment? Also is it possible to get fresh bait in Balina?

Never caight a wrasse before so will be trying my hardest to hook one. I'm going to use a float rig and asee how I go.

Any up to date info would be a great help

the right of that pier looks like a complete tackle graveyard - though you could be alright for floating for wrasse

ive never fished round there

but any place simply called fish (eascaigh) must be as good a place as any to start

the river there has a good rep id imagine there would be white trout about

as Corby has said round the pier is a tackle graveyard, have seen people float for wrasse butnever seen any caught
usual catch is pollack on feathers/spinners or on float but might be a bit early. odd conger - but hard to get out

river is ok for salmon, again bit early - not massive amounts of seatrout about - but a few.

Trawee can throw up a few surprises - head to dramore west on the coast road - it is before augris pier, no sign post but on the left there is a turn off one house on the lane left hand side. wee car park with rocks on the right and a small stream , and a good beach on the left, this can be good for seatrout, and seems to throw up a good few turbot but only small, ussually close in. have had ray , flounder, weevers!!!, and my only Bass off here. plauged by surfers but a nice spot.

dunmoran strand can throw whiting and flats , doggies,the odd trout- find it best at night from low up to about 2-3 hrs before high tide

just after dunmoran on the left headin to sligo there is a lane leading past a big house with walled garden - there are high rocks in front of the carpark - good spot for wrasse in the crevasses, with plenty of pollack on float if they are in yet - sandeels worked best for us

estury of the ballissadare river has seatrout, flats, mullet and millions of bait stealing crabs

other side enniscrone pier is very hit and miss, with more misses than hits :-00 - permanently plagued by crabs, a lot of strap conger over the wall, but need rotten bottoms, pollack rockling and doggies and conger are the usual suspects

all those marks are handy to easky

Float fish off the right side of the pier for wrasse. Use a rottom bottom with spark plugs as weights. Ive got plenty of
wrasse off the pier in the past. High tide is best. Also feathers off the pier for small coalies and pollack. I reckon there are congers off the
end of the pier as well.

enniscrone is fishing alright now a couple of eels been rported pollock coalie and dogs
and ya can get bait in ballina when ya cross the moy there is a tackle shop on your right and left for worms shellfish if you are getting mack go to the fish mongers on the main st i got some rotten mack there last week wouldn't stay on the hook and was not healthy looking at all
