I have been thinking of trying for BIG fish (as close to 100lb as I can get) off the shore this year. Sometimes you hear stories of Sharks near deep rock marks in spells of settled weather. Not that we've had any settled weather over summer in the last few years, but I was wondering if anyone has heard of such an encounter in recent years?
I was thinking Blue's or Porgies off Deep headland marks..... ..
I was also thinking Skate off the north or Northwest deep headland marks. I was thinking that maybe some of the deep water marks off the Aran Islands might be worth a go as well.
Anyone got any thoughts on Locations

I have some good tactics for getting large baits about 150 Meters plus out. Bait will be on or near the bottom......
Bait wise I was thinking of whole Pollock, Coalfish, Dogfish or perhaps even a good scented bait like Bonito or Tuna Head, if they were available from a fish mongers.
I'm appealing to the species / specimen hunters out there. I am thinking about a trip or two later in the summer if there is rumor of such fish about and when the might be a serious chance of such a fish. Looking to get perhaps 4 - 6 guys camping on some headland and putting big baits in the water for a couple of days.
If anthing it will be a good excuse for a beer or two.
Looking forward to your thoughts on this one.
Kev
We will more than likely blank, but you never know in angling. With 6 guys there might be a chance, and that's all you need as far as I'm concerned.
