i bought a second hand abu Ambassadeur 5500 c3 ct Mag Elite reel when it came it had only one magnet fitted so i bought some rare earth magnets(100 of them )
on the plastic holder for the magnets there is only 2 holes for the magnets
i am wondering if i drilled 4 extra holes so i could fit 6 magnets would it be any help or just a waste of time
if anyone has any ideas a would be grateful, thanks
photo 1 is with only 2 holes as it is now photo 2 shows where i was thinking of drilling marked in red

2 rare earths will usually offer more than enough braking for any fishing situation, adding more will slow the reel down considerably hence loosing distance. I only use one in my casting reels on both mono-mag or centre type conversions, if its ok as is thats fine, if its still quite lively go with 2. Have you cast it as is? if so how was it?

I may be wrong though! Most likely!!
Good luck with it anyway, keep the mags on full and cast slowly and you'll have birdie free sessions!!
you might get a idea of the reel in this post viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20196 you can see the reel in the photos but not close up,thank you for all the advice
