Keep meaning to venture away from Co.Down and try marks up the coast What sort of distance are you guys casting up there to get into the fish?
jordan's flounder was taken at only 25ft in front of him man. i'm heading up to portrush tomorrow to try a few of last summer's marks out to see what they're fishing like at the moment. if you fancy a run out just let me know mate. like i always say, the more the merrier
minty wrote:Well done Jordan (again

) you'll have to give me and you're dad a chance mate.....
i headed round looking for you about an hour after you'd left, twigged on why you were'nt on the beach when i seen it tried the pier myself then square house before giving up myself...
better luck next time fella

did the same ourselves man and it was impossible

i'm just gutted as i was going to fish the beach this week. but i'll give it until after the weekend to let the tides do their work and wash all the kelp and weed away

unlucky with ballycastle. i honestly thought you might get something as the light went, but it looks like it's gonna be one of those beaches that fishes best from low to high. at least you can take that knowledge from the trip, so it was'nt a complete waste of time
eyesreilly wrote:Well done Jordan, nice flounder ,,,,hard luck Al ,,,get back out there and put it behind you ,,at least the weather was excellent and the dog wasnt injured. As for the signs, some people take them as a challenge
cheers dave, i'm determined to get a fish today

by hook or by crook i'll get one

a trip to one of our tried and tested marks in co.down will soon sort that out

rab01 wrote:Hard luck on the blank Al. I've certainly had a few this season. Once we get into May you'll forget what a blank is, good times ahead lads!

i know rab, i'm just glad to hear all the reports of the wrasse making a return to our shores, soon all the rest of our summer visitors will be in and we can fish during the day again
craigo wrote:Al Unlucky man , Jordan well done mate its been a few months since iv'e had a flounder fair play

MC wrote:well done Jordan, try sandeel for turbot, its what i get them on
thanks for the tip MC

do you cut them in half or use then whole???? all the turbot i've got so far were on worms, mackie strips or squid tenticles. the squid tenticles seem to work best. last year i watched ronald get about 5 turbot using the same tenticle in one session

. and before all you budding comedians go into a typing frenzy, i said "TENTICLES"
fishermannum1 wrote:nice one on the flounder jordan

and dont worry about the turbot, your day will come!!!!
well it had better come soon as jordan is getting desperate

he was watching the redneck fishing vids on youtube last night. i think they were titled "fishing with TNT")

P.s. plenty of Turbot showing around Galway at the moment if ye fancy a road trip

looks like a road trip it is then

it's the one stretch of coast that we have'nt cast a line into yet. i'll check when jordan's off for the may bank holiday and get back to you conor
