ballycastle/waterfoot

#1 Post by minty »

People:me (met al and jordan later)

Duration:mid-day till 10.30

Tide:all states

Weather:sunny slight wind

Bait:rag mack and sandeel

Rigs:2/3 hook flappers and pulley rig

Results:big fat blankety blank

Report:
headed to Ballycastle beach after picking up the bait and set up on the left side of the river at the town end. tide was pulling in and thought i might stand a chance of the odd flounder( how wrong i was ) . not a bite and and managed to piss off a few kids and oap's hoping to get some paddling done  . decided to shift up to the far end of the beach towards the rocks about 4.30ish. after parking up at location 2 i notice two lads fishing, after a wee chat they'd told me they caught good turbot and flounder, was just about to set up when i met Al and Jordan who had just arrived :D , another wee chat and rods in the water again. Jordan( who else  ) was first to catch, a nice wee flounder, i had one nibble and nothing else. they packed up and headed for waterfoot, i held off for an hour then called it a day at ballycastle leaving with full intentions of landing something at waterfoot. when i arrived on waterfoot beach i thought i had landed on another planet, weed about 1/2 feet deep just sitting on the beach stretching right down to the water line, checked the pier, too many on it ,then the square house, weed was the same there, so with no option but admitt defeat i headed home    for a kebab and a bottle of wine ( should have done that about six o,clock ). dont know where Al and Jordan ended up but i'll bet they had better luck than me :D

anyone thinking of fishing waterfoot beach dont
some times catching crabs is a good thing.........or is it...........?
