Melmore Head (Downings)

#1 Post by Ronan »

People: Myself and 4 others

Duration: 11am - 5.30

Tide: Dropping

Weather: A bit of everything

Bait: Rag, Mack & various spinners

Rigs: Float rigs & Flappers

Results: 1 pollock & 1 wrasse

Report: Had some rag left from Wexford last weekend so decided to head to Melmore Head in the Downings. With high hopes of getting a few wrasse and some pollock we headed to a mark that normally produces a few fish. After trying a few bottom rigs then changing to the float i had nothing after the first 3 hours with Scott managing a wrasse on the float with rag and a small pollock to the spinner. After another half hour we decided to head round to the Mulroy bay side of Melmore head. Tried the float and the spinners again but it was useless. Decided to move further down the rocks to a spot were there was a bit of clean ground out infront of us where i thought we might have been able to tempt a few flatties on the bottom but still the fishing was useless. After a while with the 2 younger lads getting a bit board we decided to call it a day. Ah well it was good to get out and i think we will head to Faughn the next day for a bash at the raymonds 8) 8)
