Weather: Sunny spells with some heavy down pours wind WSW
Bait: Lug, Sandeel, Mackerel & squid
Rigs: Various
Results: Bass and Flounder
Report: Headed down to try the spot where Baitdigger had been having good success with Bass over the weekend. Conditions looked ideal with a nice surf rolling in, fishing turned out to be slow despite everything looking spot on, just the one Flounder for myslef one of the the other anglers fishing with us had a cracking Flounder 40cm long and very deep and wide bodied and followed it up with the only Bass of the session weighing in at 2lb 14oz's. Must say thanks again to Baitdigger for sharing his lug and another cracking mark

Good to know there is the odd bass showing up in Clare.
I was planning to head over to the Bridges of Ross this summer for a spot of wrasse bashing but might try a Clare beach as well now.
Cod season Winter 2013/14: 117 cod (best fish: 6.5 lbs)
Cod season Winter 2014/15: 193 cod (best fish: 4.25 lbs)

The Bridges were suffering from a fair bit of netting last summer. There is a local potter who thinks nothing of using a four pound wrasse as lobster bait. There is a little spot not to far away that can be very good.
You could fish the wrasse marks at high and we could take you bassing on the low.I dont think there are too many wrasse in just now, but it should not be too long. Got a good tip from another lad about groundbaiting for wrasse with spider crabs and I want to try it out.

Thanks guys, that would be great. It will probably be mid/late July or August before I head up that way. I will be bringing a bucket full of Cork Harbour king rag and the finest East Cork lug with me (plenty to share) so hopefully that should tempt a few fish.
