North Dublin - Salmon
Hi Guys,
I went to a local beach in North Dublin in Search for my first Bass. Fishing an incoming tide
with only Mackerel as Bait and a few spinners. 45 mins in no bites. I reeled in and casted out to my left
where there was a slight wave break. 10 Mins later i had 2 big knocks on the rod and the line went slack.
I struck and right away I could tell that I had a decent fish on the end. The fish was fighting like crazy.
I managed to get a glimpse as I got it in closer. Flash of Silver and I thought that I was going to land a really
good sized Bass. However I managed to land maybe a better bonus a SALMON. It was about 5-6lb and put
up some scrap. I was surprised to catch a salmon on a local beach. I was delighted.
Still searching for that first Bass if anyone can help me on that.
Colin

now that,s a turn up for the books
i,m sure you got some shock when you realized what you got
are you sure it wasnt a sea trout ? well done anyway sounds like you got great sport from it
it probably pulled your chain better than a bass of the same size would have

Re: North Dublin
Sea-Trout. Never expected to catch this. Was after my first Bass. Is it still to early for Bass around Dublin?

Re: North Dublin - Salmon
Well IF it wasn't put back the he would need a tag, weather he was expecting to catch it or not. If he didn't have a license he doesn't get to keep the fish as i'm sure you know. I don't know if he kept the fish, but i would hope he put it back, sea trout of that size aren't that common.booner wrote:'wheres the tag'....... yeh, cos all Bass fishermen buy a game license, im thinkin of buy a freshwater license as weel in case i catches a stray pike
Fair play to you Colin, thats a fine fish. Well done.
