KILGORMAN 5-04-09, BRAY HARBOUR 6-04-09

People:KILGORMAN, ME AND NEIL,,,BRAY,,ME

Duration:KILGORMAN;4PM-9PM,,BRAY;8PM-10PM

Tide:

Weather:

Bait:LUG,MACK,SQUID

Rigs:FLAPPERS, 1 HOOK CLIPPED DOWN

Results:KILGORMAN,NEIL;FLOUNDER,WHITING,,,ME 1 X WHITING

BRAY HARBOUR 6 X WHITING, 1 X DOGGIE

Went to Kilgorman with Neil on Sunday evening in the hope of Bass,,,some hope  .After spending a couple of hours on Sat digging rag and lug i was stocked up with the best of bait and full of confidence. 4 hours and i mini whiting later i went home happy that at least i hadnt blanked. In between i had to listen to Neil who caught a nice flounder and a decent whiting. There was a stiff southerly breeze blowing which made it quite nippy and resulted in turning one of Neils hands blue  ,,only kidding it was a surgical glove used to stem the blood caused by a wayward hook.

All baits came back untouched all evening,is there anything worse  .I was starting to think of what might have been if i'd only gone to Greystones   . I was missing my rocks  . Then it lashed rain ,we were glad we brought the shelters. When the rain stopped the only thing biting was Neil who had a BBQ and ate a dozen sausages and a couple of burgers. Still no bites ,it was getting dark now,,where were the fish??. Neil packed up and was ready to go and i decided to stay on in the hope of a bite. Then it happened,,,,,,,,a small nibble and i reeled in a tiny whiting dwarfed by the rag on the hook. I could go home now,,,,not exactly happy but with my head held high,,the blank was saved :D

Badly needing to catch a decent fish i went to Bray with some leftover lug kindly donated by Neil on Sunday . I arrived at about 8pm to an empty pier and reversed the car down to the end. It was raining for a while but soon cleared uo to a mild night, calm seas. First cast i had double of whiting which put sundays trip to Kilgorman in the history books. It was great to see the rod tip nodding even if it was only whiting nibbling at the bait. Caught about 6 of these and then got a nice doggie to cap off the night. Very enjoyable session and just what the doctor ordered

PS JUST IMAGINE DONAL DOMENEYS FLOUNDER WAS BIGGER THAN THE MEASURE IN THE PIC BELOW,,,SOME FISH
