I have have bought tackle on the net (mainly from the UK) and have been pleased with what i have got and the money i have saved.... however, maybe the current financial climate is starting to turn things around a little.
After a couple of weeks of looking around the net for a new rod and reel, selecting what i want, a little uncertainty and nearly pushing the 'buy' button, i decided to call into my local tackle shop.
I had a look around, most of the prices were considerabally more than on the net but the range of choice is second to none. Here is the important thing that you don't get on the net... advice! Its invaluable!
After being advised with non bias view, I decided to pick out the rod and reel i really fancied.... here comes the good bit, the haggling
, i managed to get a decent discount buying the two items plus i got a 1000m of line thrown in after the deal was done foc.

!! all in all i would probably have saved a measly 20 euro buying them on the net without the freebie, but then there is the hassle of sending back if damaged or the order is wrong.

Being able to look, touch and feel what you want before you buy, combined with the advice on a one to one basis has me sold on going back to Irish tackle shops. Good deals can be found as long as you are aware of the prices you can get and being prepared to haggle, our tackle shops want to survive and are prepared to work with us.... i say lets give them a chance!
I won't stop buying online but i'll give the local lads a go first.
Maybe i'm a rambling B*****d! Just my thought for today!
